Today, CM Jai Ram Thakur distributed laptops to the children studying in schools and colleges who have been waiting for the last four years.

Q. How you can get free laptop under Srinivas Ramanujan Vidhyarti Digital Yojana in Himachal Pradesh ?

Ans. Every year laptops are distributed by the government to the meritorious students in Himachal Pradesh. For this you have to get good marks in class 10th and 12th. Laptops were not distributed due to Corona to about 20,000 meritorious in the year 2018-19 and 2019-20.

Q. Will the Himachal government also give laptops to the meritorious students of 2020-21?

Ans. In future, most probably Himachal government is going to discontinue laptop scheme; perhaps the Himachal government will give smartphones or tablets to the meritorious students instead of laptops. Because the work that the smartphone has done during the Corona period is commendable. Most of the children are from poor backgrounds who cannot afford a smartphone. The Himachal government gives laptops/smartphones under the digital scheme to encourage those students.

Q. What is Eligibility criteria for free laptop or smartphone in Himachal Pradesh?

Ans. Every year, students who come in merit are given laptops or smartphones. Only those students whose marks are above the cut off are given laptops. In the year 2019-20, the minimum cut off for class X students was around 617 marks. 

For Class 12th:

-Arts- 417 marks out of 500

-Science- 450 marks out of 500 (451/500 updated)*

-Commerce- 426 marks out of 500

Q. What should the students do, who did not get/receive the laptop on 8th June? 

Ans. Those students who did not get laptop on 8th June, they can collect their laptop from DOP office within the coming few days. In order to receive the laptop, they will have to get their forms attested by the Principal/Head of their institution. The link of the form is given below.
