Ramesh buys 20 kgs of wheat every month for the family. The cost of wheat is increased from Rs. 14 per kg to Rs. 16 per kg. If Ramesh does not want to increase his expenditure on wheat what quantity of wheat should he buy after the price increase?

Ques. If Ramesh does not want to increase his expenditure on wheat what quantity of wheat should he buy after the price increase?

A) 12.5 kg

B) 16 kg

C) 17.5 kg

D) 16.5 kg

Ans. C) 17.5 kg

Explanation:

Cost of wheat before price increase = 14 Rs/Kg

Total expenditure = Total amount of Wheat × Price of Wheat per kg — equation (i)

i.e.  20 × 14 = 280 Rs

According to question if Ramesh does not want to increase his expenditure on wheat he will spend Rupees per month = 280

Now the new cost of wheat = 16 Rs/Kg

From equation (i)

Amount of Wheat = Total expenditure/Price of Wheat per kg

i.e. X = 280/16

X = 17.5 Kg Ans

Therefore Ramesh should buy 17.5 Kg Wheat after the price increase.
