Laptop distribution Himachal Pradesh for session 2018-19 and 2019-20
The wait for about 19,572 meritorious students studying in Himachal Pradesh government schools and colleges for the last four years is about to end.
The state government will allot laptops on June 8. Honourable Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will do allotment in Mandi, while in other districts programs will be held virtually on the same day. At the assembly level, the meritorious students of the academic session 2018-19 and 2019-20 are to get laptops. Before the assembly elections, the Jairam government will give laptops to the meritorious for the first time in its tenure.
On Wednesday, Director of Higher Education Dr. Amarjeet Kumar Sharma informed all the District Deputy Directors by video conference. Laptops are to be given to 18019 students of class 10 and 12 and 1828 meritorious students of colleges included in the merit list.
For the first time, the meritorious will be given laptops with modern technology worth Rs 41,550.
During the previous governments, laptops of worth 10-12 thousand rupees have been given. The government has decided to give Windows 10 laptops with Dell company's i3 processor and 14-inch screen. It will have 4 GB of RAM, which can be expanded up to 16 GB through the slot. Its hard disk drive will be of one Tera Byte (TB). Microsoft's Windows 10 has been installed under the student scheme. It also includes 720 pixels webcam and microphone.
It has three USB ports. CD drive is not provided in it. The laptop weighing 1.63 kg will have a warranty of three years including the battery. The battery capacity will be for four hours of continuous use. The purchase process of laptops has been affected during the last two years due to the Corona crisis.
