About 20,000 meritorious students studying in schools and colleges of Himachal Pradesh will be given laptops with modern technology worth Rs 41,550. The government has decided to give Window-10 laptops of Dell company with i3 processor. It will have 4 GB of RAM, which can also be expanded up to 16 GB through the slot. The hard disk drive of the laptop will be of one Tera Byte (1 TB).

Expected date:

The work of installing photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has started in the laptop. As soon as this process is completed, a target has been set to allot laptops from next month. During the previous governments, laptops worth Rs 10,000 to 12,000 were given. Microsoft Windows 10 has been installed in these laptops. A 720p webcam and microphone have also been included in the laptop. The capacity of the laptop battery will be for four hours of continuous use.

There will be no ban on viewing social media sites:

The education department will not put any software to block social media sites on laptops. Along with meritorious studies, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube channels will also be able to watch through this.

Screen will be of 14 inches, will have three USB ports The laptop given to the meritorious will have a screen of 14 inches. It has three USB ports. CD drive is not provided in it. The laptop weighing 1.63 kg will have a warranty of three years including the battery.

Waiting for four years: 

Meritorious people have been waiting for four years for laptops. Laptops are to be given to 18,019 students of class X and XII and 1,828 meritorious colleges in the merit list for the academic session 2018-19 and 2019-20. The laptop purchase process has been affected during the last two years due to the Corona crisis. For the meritorious academic session 2020-21 and 2021-22, the government has decided to provide smart mobile phones. The Directorate of Higher Education has also started the procurement process of smart phones.
